Get Me Downunder

The Adventure Starts Here

Hi, I'm hoping to migrate to Melbourne next year and have started looking at suburbs around Melbourne. We are looking to live no more than 40 minutes travel time into the city living close to public transport (tram or train line preferable). We are going to rent at first and are looking at places around $300pw. Has anyone got any good suggestions?

I used to live in Essendon which is about 40 mins away (from memory - I left in 1994).  There was a good tram and train service - I worked for University of Melbourne so getting a tram was best for me.  Can't remember much about the cost of renting but we only rented one bedroom flats and not a house so not sure of the cost.  It was more expensive than the outer suburbs.
