Get Me Downunder

The Adventure Starts Here

Hi Guys,

can anybody give me advice,I am going out to Brisbane 22 April for a couple of weeks and would really like to no if anybody has any contacts they could throw my way,I thought that I would rather meet people when I am out there and try and make contacts etc.I am a RMN so I am lucky as I know I am on the critical list.....that is really good however I did specifically train to be a nurse to go to OZ.My son is coming he holds an Australian passport as his dad is Australian,we never married but he has citizenship by descent and a passport from that but it doesn't help me I don't think??

Any help appreciated.

Hi Loretta, there are lots of jobs for nurses out here you would have no problem. I take it you are no longer with your Aussie partner? Shame as Aus immigration recognise "De facto partnerships". Also I think if your son moves to Aus you can get here due to balance of family, unless you have a new partner or more children?

What is a de facto partnership? Yes I only have one other daughter and no children with my current husband or intend too.

Is it better to get a sponsor or just apply for a visa ,what do you recommend, any ideas ?

Would love to hear from anyone whose already moved !!

thanks Michael

Hi Loretta, Defacto partnership is the Oz term for "commonlaw husband and wife" as it is termed in the UK. The way things are here at the moment I think sponsorship is the way to go. If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct me.

Hi Loretta

have a look at Ramsay Health Australia as thats who are sponsoring me as a nurse. I'm just waiting on my registration and then visa to come through, then am off to Sydney.

In order to get your registration you may have to sit an academic IELTS exam so contact the nursing board for where you plan to go and find out what they require you to have paperwork wise for your registration.

feel free to contact me if you have any questions
