Hi Cal, thanks for the info, also noted your comments re Lisa Foster and dark nights. That was one of my fears as i used to really enjoy late summer eveneings. I'm so old i can remember them. ! Can i ask, do you find the cost of living different from UK? I've been looking around and general foodstuff appear to be level or higher than UK? We are looking to move to SE Brisbane around Algester area as we have friends there. Any othe rplaces in that area you could recommend? cheers steven

Hi Cal, I think what I'm going to try and do is rent a fully furnished short stay for one week, in advance rent an unfurnished and just buy seconhand furniture untill we get ourselves sorted. We'll buy new beds but to be honest its just to get settled as soon as possible, the prices in around greenslopes for fully furnished are expensive and $800 per week, crikey I'm a lowly paid nurse not a brain surgeon. Also even furnished some look a bit tatty. We are all really excited about comming across, but we know as well its not going to plain sailing, but we have wanted this for so many years and the past 7 months have been a roller coaster of emotions between paperwork going awol, and teary family members, I think when you want something so much and you have to make the sacrifices it makes it all the more special. So look out Brisbane here we come!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep in touch Cal, kelly

Hi Cal, I'll email you. I'm actually already in Perth, just wanted to get your view. I know about driving and home opens with kids groaning in the back, "not another one" :). Talk soon.

ooh cal I have just spooted your page, could you maybe give me an idea of how much a week it would be for a fully furnished 3 bedroom pad in around greenslopes.

Cal what's your opinion on the best areas to settle in Brisbane?

Hi Cal we are looking to move to Aus but unfortunatly not for a few years yet as work commitments hold us hear in the U.K, but we want to pin point an area which has a friendly community with good shcools and is safe for our children and pets. We would love good accsess to shops and not too far from the coast as we have an active intrest in water sports. I have a brother inlaw in byron bay who we visited 3 years ago but we really like the idea of living further north closer to the city of brisbane. We have looked at both the gold coast and sunshine coast and quite like the look of caloundra and noosa, but we have not visited thses areas, so are open to suggestions. Any help and advice is much appericated to help make our dream move come true.
