Does your husband run his own business or do you? We came in a business owner's visa - you have to prove you have run a business for 2 years with various criteria. Then you have to undertake to start or buy a business and run it for 2 years over (ag…

Hi Julie, Many people in your situation are going the sponsored route. It has its pros and cons, however, it is the fastest route for migrating now that processing times are prioritised. Has your hubby had his qualifications verified by TRA or VET…

Hi there Julie, have read the responses you have received and yes, the only real way to achieve a faster result is to be sponsored by a company and this costs them quite a bit to do this so you will probably be tied into a job with them for a few ye…

I know absolutely nothing about this Julie, but if I were in the same situation I would be contacting the Australian embassy. I guess if they don't have the answers nobody has. You may have to get an interview, but that would be quicker than waiting…

Thanks

Thankyou everyone who replied to my letter.A couple of answers to your questions;my husband completed the vetassess assessment in June 2008 and our application was received by the DIAC in August 2008.At that time bricklayers were on the skills in demand list but were taken off by the following January.Since then we have tried really hard to get a company to sponsor us in Perth as they need bricklayers ( not on the list for Brisbane) and we have had no luck (which is not surprising, considerin

Any Ideas

Hello, we are a family of 4 trying to emigrate to Brisbane with not much luck. We have family there and applied for a 176 (family sponsored skilled migrant) in August 2008.My husband is a bricklayer and has been told it could take up until 2012, which is so frustrating and we are getting very fed up of putting our life on hold.We contacted our agent this week to see how long state sponsor is (we thought we might have to consider Perth even though we have never been there) and she told us Pert

Will we ever be wanted down under ?

Hi everyone,
we're a family of four still waiting and getting very impatient for a visa. My partner is a bricklayer and has family in Brisbane who are sponsering him. We sent the visa application via an agent in August and are still waiting for a request for medicals, which were supposed to be within five months!!!
Is there anyone out there who has been through the process and can give us hope or we would also like to hear from anyone still waiting and getting fed up like us.

Julie,

Yes go for temporary visa. It doesn't take as long and the visa lasts for 3 years. Once you have lived in Australia for 2 years (and worked for 1 full-time) you can apply for permanent, which we have been advised is never refused if you are working. As Craig mentioned you do lose out on things like shild benefits, tax rebates and are limited to the more expensive Medicare (although we have recently got cover for a family of 4 for about £120 per month). We were told by our agents this was a much faster route. We applied for regional sponsorship (475 visa) which helps also.

Hi Julie,
We are a family of 5 waiitng to go to Brisbane too. The agent we are using is Sammy Naghi, hes great as he doesnt give any false hopes just tells it like it is. In short there is not alot anyone can do right now due to all the cahnges being made by DIAC. We are now looking at state sponsorship as an option too as my husband ( a plumber) is not on the most needed in Brisbane. We have made the decision to go for South Autralia and Sammy did tell me that both South Australia and Victoria were two of the quicker states to get into. Obviously know one has a crystal ball so i am still expecting long delays and 2012 does seem to be realistic.
