Hi
We were in a similar position and we found the student visa route to be the quickest way to get over here (we came to the Sunshine Coast in May having submitted the visa application 3 months earlier). My wife is doing a two year hair and beauty course (a quarter of the way through now), during which we are temporary visa holders. Once completed and with some work experience under her belt, she will have enough points to become a permanent visa holder - YIPPEE!!! I can provide loads more advice as I have now established a relocation service business for UK migrants.
