40 days and 40 nights of fish can sometimes seem a bit daunting. However it makes you reach out to other types of fish that you probably wouldn’t normally have. Most people feel safe with a seared…

It is half past eight on a quiet night and most Broadbeach restaurants are closing up. Only in Queensland I think to myself as we wander the streets looking for somewhere half decent to get fish. We…

A little pulse of swell was forecast so I headed South at 5am to catch an early surf with my good friend Daniel. Since the NSW back beaches always pick up a bit more swell than here we reasoned they…

I fly out to Perth on Saturday to make my visa validation trip; I'm staying about 9 days then heading back to the UK.
My question is: should I mark the card as migrating permanently to Australia on this visit, or just as a temporary visitor?
You can see an example of the card here: http://www.evisastoaustralia.com/section06/customs.pdf
Thanks!

It really is amazing how many people want to migrate to Australia, never having visited the country! It really is sheer madness to sell up and move to a country that you do not know. People watch "wanted downunder" in the middle of a UK winter and decide, "thats for me!" That show really should be banned, why doesn't Nadia live here if it's as great as she says!?
Not trying to put people off but get your act together and book a holiday, see with your own eyes, decide if you like it…

Hi all,
I am booked in to sit my IELTS test in May, and have sent off to have my skills assessed.
When I have these two completed I will be applying for Sponsorship from the WA government before applying for a General skilled offshore visa.
My question is, the WA government asks that you have "sufficient funds" to settle in Australia, a fairly loose term.
But how much is this deemed to be, and when do they require evidence?
My…

Amazingly our house sold within two days of going on the market and, if everything pans out correctly, we'll be leaving the UK in June!
First a holiday across the US and then arrive a month later in Oz, stopping off in Sydney before finally arriving in Perth.
I'm off in 11 days to get my visa validated and then it's sorting everything out in terms of what to sell, what to chuck and what to ship.
Anyone want to buy a car...? :-)

I would love to know other peoples experiences with their migration to Oz. My husband and have been trying for 3 years to find a visa to migrate and our only option now is to find a sponsor. My husbands job is on the Critical skills shortage list and a migration agent has assessed our eligiability. We dont know how to go about
finding a sponsor for employment as a licensed aircraft engineer and now we wonder if it is worth it. Our son
lives in Melbourne and we were hoping to…
