We are in the process for State sponsorship for Western Australia. I have been researching Butler, Clarkson, Connolly and area's round that area. My name is Alan and my wife, Louise, and I are thinking of working in NZ. We aren't Kiwi virgins, we went for a four month tour 10 years ago next month and we both loved it and have always wanted to go back.
My wife is going to get a redundancy settlement and we think we'd like to settle in the Wellington region so she can apply to the local hospitals (Louise is deputy manager of cancer services at Derriford in Plymouth) can any one give advice on good places to live within… Continue

Immigration South Australia has published an interim list of occupations in demand ahead of the approval of its State Migration Plan.
The interim list, which can be found here, includes occupations that Immigration SA will consider for Sponsorships until the State Migration Plan is implemented. This could be some while, as the new Immigration Minister, Chris Bowen, has to approve all the state plans. At present, no plans have been approved, and it seems that South Australia, who need… Continue

We can find plenty of information regarding taking cats and dogs to Australia, but my daughter wants to take her pet rabbit. Looking on different sites the information for 'other' pets is limited. The way one site read was that Australia only accept rabbits from New Zealand, but i'm not sure if i've read it right. I just wondered if anyone could shed any more light on this as our younger daughter feels better about going if 'Cookie' can come too!

Richard O’Brien, the author and composer of the cross-dressing cult classic “The Rocky Horror Show” (and its midnight movie incarnation, “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”) applied for residency in New Zealand, where he planned to retire to the coastal town of Katikati.
After the decision prompted protests (and spawned a Facebook group that attracted more than 3,600 members) New Zealand authorities have reversed the decision.
He previously lived in NZ as a teenager, and has a… Continue

We've got quotes for shipping the cats across, scary stuff, it's going to cost… Continue

For those who missed it, Australia finally has a new government!! Or should I say old - Julia Gillard has scraped back in having secured the support of the two independents.
It'll be interesting to see if this speeds up the state migration plans..
