i have got my skills assessed by TRA (mechanical fitter), a month away from state sponsorship from WA (hopefully). someone has just offered the asking price on my house, we can move in with my parents no problem. this would mean we could save a packet £1500 a month easy, because we applied for a 176 visa and the times have gone through the roof i dont know what would be… Continue

I got my Spousal visa in August and my wife and I are moving to Perth next year. My question is this; when can I apply for Australian Citizenship, and can I retain my British passport after doing so?

OK, going by that title, you would be mistaken for thinking that I’m some sort of ocean expert/marine specialist…
…. but obviously I’m not.
, I have just been talking to someone who is
very knowledgeable about that sort of thing, and I felt it was of utmost importance to deliver the information to you!
I have just this minute come back from watching my 12 year old son battle with the surf whilst he was on one of his weekly school ’surf… Continue

My husband (who is a pharmacist) is preparing to do the COAP exam hopefully in March next year. He must complete and pass this before we apply for our skilled migrant visa...we have heard that it notoriously difficult :0(....just wondered if anybody has any experience of it? He had to do the IELTS before this and thankfully passed with the necessary grades!

We made the decision to move over to Australia in November 2010 and will be locating around Brisbane. My wife is from there so it made that an easy decision, it just took me awhile to make the decision to move there.

I am a qualified Chartered Tax Adviser and I came to Australia 2 years ago to work for a firm of accountants dealing with the pension issues affecting migrants from the UK. I found that when people leave the UK they are concerned about selling their house for the right price and getting a good exchange rate, but they don't really pay too much attention to any other financial issues. In my experience this is a big mistake.
Entitlement to the UK state pension is really valuable and by… Continue

When we stayed in Cairns it was at a small family run B&B and it turned out to be really brilliant. Their website is http://www.galvinsonedge.com.au/
and I can highly recommend it. It can sleep up to four people because there are 2 bedrroms, 1 double and 1 twin. You have a bathroom, small kitchen and living room. You can walk straight out onto a patio/garden area where there is a swimming pool. The price you pay is for the whole place… Continue

We have hit a problem on our ENS visa.
What happens if we withdraw the application? Do we get all our papers back? do we get any refund?
This is a real set back over a very tenuous issue.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I was just reading throught the changes to the immigration policies announced a few week ago, as I plan to begin my application for a Skilled Independent Visa as an Accountant early next year, first job the IELTS test, then the Skills Assesment, then the visa itself.
I had a quick glance at the CSL to make sure Accountants were still on there, and was slightly horrified to see the And/or amendment to the note:
Accountant - where the applicant has… Continue

My Family (wife and 2 small children) and I are going back to Australia in March for another holiday.
We are considering emigrating to Australia as we love the place, particularly Melbourne and Perth. Our up and coming holiday is to Melbourne. I was hoping you could help with the following queries.
I am an I.T. Professional (.NET Technologies). Is this skill still on the skills in demand list?
Secondly how can I go about looking for suitable employers while over… Continue

Hi, I seemed to have been extremely lucky in getting my visa compared to some of the horror stories regarding waiting times I have been reading recently.
I applied for my Subclass 100 visa on 13th June and was given the confirmation on August 6th! Has anyone else gotten theirs that quick?
It put my wife and I on the back foot as we thought we'd be waiting at least 6-8 months for it to come through. We are planning to put our house on the market at the beginning of 2010 and… Continue
