Get Me Downunder

The Adventure Starts Here

Hi all,

My partner and I would like to move to Australia in the new year. I have spent many hours looking on the internet / reading the Australia and New Zealand magazine and speaking to people about it, but am still not quite sure what visas to go for etc.

We are both under 30 years of age. I have already used my working holiday visa but my partner hasn't. I have considered to doing the graduate diploma in education in Brisbane, which lasts for a year (I have a degree in business and a language). I have been working as a Publicist in London for three years and my partner works in IT. He is currently studying to get CCNA qualified.

We are busy saving to go to OZ and would also like to travel around India and SE Asia on the way, but I think at this stage, it is probably best to get some advice from a migration agent. We really want to spend as little as is neccessary for this. I was wondering if any of you have advice for us on the above and if anyone can reccommend a good migration agent in London please?

Ciao for now!

I recently wrote a blog post on my own site www.australiauncovered.com about visa applications.... so I will pop it this site too - maybe that might give you some pointers?

We used a company called VisaCorp, and whilst they are based in Sydney I did not find this an issue and everything was dealt via email very quickly.
Getting the VISA can be a lengthy process but Anthony from VisaCorp made it as painless as possible.
It took us about 18 months all in from starting the process to receiving the VISA and that did include us taking a while to get references and also having to add our new born daughter half way through the process.
I would certainly recommend talking to an agent, the requirements seem to change frequently so they can advise on this and they can also advise if any information submitted is not suitable. This way you make sure all paperwork and documents submitted to the Government are correct and so you don't waste time having to resubmit things.

All in all it was a long process made easier by having a migration agent on hand.
We have just returned from 3 weeks in Perth getting our VISA authorised so now we just have to arrange the move :-)
Good luck with whatever you decide.

i cannot recommend the agent that looked after us enough.... Helen o'hare from Australian Migration Solutions was so proffesional but approachable. Their website was helpful and she would no doubt be able to give you good advise. we arrived a few weeks ago and can never thank her or her team enough.

Sammy Naghi at Taylor Hampton Solicitors are in London and very good. They really know how to get through the process and doing a great service for us. Can't say enough good things about them. Depends on your budget and exactly what you want.

Hi there. Lots of good and reputable agents in the London area. You could try Hannibal Khoury at Thames Migration, John Adams or Borey at Immigration2oz or anyone from the Mara directory at the back of the magazine.
