The Adventure Starts Here

Many shops offer "packages" ie fitting out a whole room. There are a wide range of shops to suit all budgets. Here are two shops that offer "budget" packages

Fantastic Furniture www.fantasticfurniture.com.au

Super Amart www.superamart.com

For electrical goods:

The Good Guys www.thegoodguys.com.au

Retravision www.retravision.com.au

These are not endorsements - but they contain prices of goods so you can work out whether is is better to ship your belongings or buy new.

When they say discount for cash this includes EFTPOS (which is like Switch in the UK)

It is a good idea to open a bank account with a visa debit card. You will be making large purchases when you arrive and if you increase the EFTPOS limit you may be liable for the limit amount should someone misuse your card - you need to check your bank's policy on stolen or misued cards.

Use these websites to give you an idea of the cost of replacing all your items. Maybe compromise is the answer? With the very limited kg you're allowed to bring on the plane you will need to ship some items over - it's just working out how much do you bring?

PS Tip Do not throw out your winter clothing unless you are going to Darwin. Australia does have chilly winters and in some parts it snows!
