Quick Questions !!

Posted on September 4, 2010 at 9:55 4 Comments

Hi all,

Is there anyone out there who can answer these questions:

Has anyone used the on-line visa application, if so how do you submit certified documents, i.e, birth certs?

Does anyone have any experience of submitting an on-line application, if so was it straight-forward?

Does an on-line application indicate possible…

Do POINTS really get prizes

Just completed a Quick Points assessment and achived a score of 105 points. This apparently enters the Pool which could sit there for 2 years before the visa is processed. I can take the English test giving me another 10 points but this is still below the 120 points required.

Would the fact that I could get 115 points put me in a better position.

Any info (or extra points!!!!!!!!!) would be appreciated.

Also just got a speeding fine on the A40 £60…

It's all so confusing.

Dear all,

I'm starting to write a series of blogs in the hope that you guys can answer some of the many unanswered questions I have regarding moving my family to WA. Also I'm hoping that the blogs will allow me to reflect on this journey whilst at the same time help others in a similar situation.

As I write, all family members have agreed to the move. My husband David is a mechanical engineer with vast experience in heavy industry. I currently work as a college…

Hi Dave,

Not sure where exactly we are going to end up yet, Perth was our number 1 location, but then we started thinking about Brisbane. I think me getting a job will probably determine the exact location.
I'm pretty flexible as to what I'd like to so hopefully that will help me get something interesting.

Hi Claire
You will have 12 months from either the date of your medicals or the dates of your police checks whichever comes up sooner to enter Australia. There will be a specific enter by date on your visa when it is eventually issued and you will be well aware of it.
There are things you need to be aware of like when you may be entitled to Australian Citizenship which is generally after you have been in Australia for 4 years (at least last 12 months as permanent resident) and you have not been absent from Australia for more than 12 months in that 4 years. Then you don't need to worry about applying for a Resident Return Visa. This is applicable to anyone who after the 5 years of visa grant still wants to travel in out and out of Australia but doesn't want to apply for or isn't eligible for Australian Citizenship.
This is all just general information and not meant to take the place of professional migration advice. If you do require specific and individual migration advice we conduct professional migration assessments by telephone for a set fee which includes the call cost.
Don't forget to consider South Australia if you haven't had your heart set on Western Australia (checkout
thanks and regards and all my best to you and your family

Hi Claire
well good luck to you, we are currently living in Cheshire and like you were pretty fed up with our lifestyle and the childrens schools etc. We applied last year for permanent residency and on June 22nd this year our visa was granted! Happy day. We have until jan 6th to arrive in Australia, not very long!! So we are frantically trying to get everything organised. My hubby and I are both nurses and we have 3 children, age 10, 8 and 6. It's very exciting and but terrifying all at the same time!
Hope it all works for you. I'll try and follow your blog. Feel free to bombard us with questions as we did exactly that while we were applying!

Claire, I wish you luck, I think it is wise to share the journey, as we all learn so much along the way. I made my first post a couple of weeks ago and got some really great feedback. I can't answer your question as I am still early on in my journey, having made the decision to migrate in March. I am currently waiting for the SMPs to be published for SA and QLD to see if they want general managers, in the meantime I am looking for work. I am sure everyone experiences the highs and lows, and I think it is good to share those to keep some realism in the process. I will read your blogs with interest.
