Get Me Downunder

The Adventure Starts Here

I was issued a skilled independent visa (189) in June this year on the basis of my qualification as a Children's Nurse (Diploma in Children's Nursing). I have filled in my AGOS-40 this week to apply for nursing registration however have become aware that British nurses with Diploma qualifications are having issues in obtaining AHPRA registration.

We have been granted permanent residency as I wanted to continue my career as a children's nurse in Australia. We have flights booked to arrive in Perth in early April 2015. Now it appears when I arrive there  with my husband and son I will actually not be able to work as a nurse. Why can you be accepted for a Visa and have your skills assessed by ANMAC and then be let down by AHPRA? I really don't know where to go from here. Any advice?
