Get Me Downunder

The Adventure Starts Here

My husband and I have got skilled sponsored visas to go to WA - and we loved Bunbury when we visited. Main thing for us is to find him a job first - as he would be main earner. Can anyone give advice or info on I.T jobs in WA - specifically south west if can - but will be willing to go where ever we can. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Yolandi

Try http://www.seek.com.au/ for starters.  You might also like to contact agencies that specialise in your husbands field.  I just Googled "IT jobs in WA" and got tons of hits.

Good luck; we're just coming into spring here and the days are getting lovely again.

Dear Paul,

Thank you for your message. I have found a lot of IT jobs - but when I need to narrow them down to exactly what my husband does - and staying out of Perth - I rarely end with any :-( I do know that the government is hopefully adding Perth to the list where we are allowed to live and work - most good jobs are in the city.

Thanks again

That's the trouble with WA, 75% of the population live and work in Perth, so that's where the jobs are!  Not that I'm complaining, I love it here!

Does your visa restrict you to being anywhere but Perth?  I agree, Bunbury is nice.

Dear Paul,

We have regional sponsored - at the moment we can go anywhere in WA except perth metropolitan. However I know legislation is due to come in in sept/oct that's adding perth on the list - so fingers crossed.

At the moment applying for anything and everything, but most people saying they have to meet first in person - which I completely understand - just makes it bit extra tough for us.

Are you coming out for a visa validation trip?  That's what I did and met up with agents when I was here.  Helped to hit the ground running when I arrived properly last September.
We did the trip in april. Met with agents. Found me a job, and found us a company to build a house - but no job for hubby. So that's what my days consist of now - applying for lots of jobs - someone must say yes.........
