My girlfriend and I are coming over in April/May to Oz to get our emigration visas stamped and to reconnoiter the various cities (Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane and maybe Canberra) for housing, jobs etc
Melbourne is the only place we're going to pre-book. Once we get to Oz our dates are pretty flexible so we'll book hotels a couple of days prior to arriving in each city.
Any recommendations for reasonable hotels in decent areas etc gratefully received, budget… Continue

After a long wait I have just been awarded my contributory parents visa and can't wait to get out to Mackay to join my daughter and her little family.
I am an experienced Secretary/PA. Does anyone out there have any useful thoughts or experience on lining up work apart from the usual contacting agencies and scouring the internet?
Is there anyone out there in the Mackay area who might be able to offer some first hand advice?
Things are going to be… Continue

22/01/09 - Booking Flights tomorrow, well excited, but my bank accounts going to take a bit of a beating! No surprise there though! Thing is, we wanted to fly out a week earlier, but it would cost an extra £125 because its 'a different season'! So that means we are travelling over the easter weekend, through one of the busiest Airports in the World!?!?! Well good.....

I'm a 30 year old male from the UK, a qualified accountant, my wife is 28 and qualified to NVQ level 3 in early years child care, and we have a 6 month old daughter.
We spent a year travelling Oz in 2004/5 and only came back to pay off the credit cards. We intend to go permanently on a skilled visa as soon as we have a sufficient amount of money saved up.
We reckon in about two and a half years we should be ready.
My questions are as… Continue

I know it is very daunting at first, but once you get your head around it and you are getting some professional help to explain the steps required and do it for you, it is really not that bad, kind of takes the fear of making a mistake out of… Continue

Myself and family have been to many migration shows regarding moving down under. I have an 18 year old daughter studying childcare and a son aged 13, do you think my children are too old to adapt to a new country and life away from all they know and love? Also, have we enough money to start a new life, I would estimate roughly £60/70k, both myself and husband would work full time needing a mortgage on ahome. Will life in Oz be better for my kids is there much crime, is employment better, I know… Continue
