shopping and relocation

two questions for all..

1st. We are moving to australia as nurses. Has anyone recently secured a relocation package either through a hospital directly or through an agency? if so which one. We have heard of someone recentyl getting one for a move to Brisbane but we hop[e to move to melbourne.

2nd. I buy alot of stuff from Marks and Spencer, which i know is unique, but where can i buy the same sort of quality clothing at similar prices?

How long does the general skills migration visa process take???

Please help....I have been on the phone today to the Australian government and they said the emigration processs for this type of visa is 3-4 years!!!

I have also spoken to someone from the emigration group who said that it wasnt taking that long??

Im so confused and dont know the best route to go down?

If I go down the GSM it will take 3-4 years (that we dont have!!) but if we go down the regional skills migration we cant go to the area we wanted!!!!

I am applying for a spousal visa (my husband is australian) we have been quoted about £700.00 for a migration agent.... does everyone reccomend using them or is it pretty straightforward to do on your own.. or does any one have any one they can reccomend to help?

Visa Medical Done!

Well trekked to Birmingham today to have my visa medical which took the best part of 3 hours while sitting with a lot of other people who all looked like they were applying to Oz too.  So far have been given a clean bill of health just got to wait for the results of my blood test and chest x ray to come back before get the all clear and they send it off to Australia House.  Have to wait about 10-12 days which in the grand scheme of things isn't long considering only applied for Visa in January… Continue

What is the best and quickest visa to get for a family???

my husband and I are wanting to move to Oz with our three girls but our eldest is 16 and Im worried if we dont get there soon she will start to get her own life here and change her mind!!!!

Skilled Migrant Visa - Online form



Has anybody  used the online application service on IMMI site?


I am looking to apply for (subclass 175) Visa as a Computer and Systems Engineer (263111) - a valid required skill on the current SOL, however the role above is not listed on the Online Application form?

How come there seems to be a sub-set of listed skills on the application form?

Anybody similar experiences on the online form? If so, have they any comment back from the…

Our little boy will be 5 in January and we are hoping to be in Australia for him to start school at that time. as we are unsure where we will live i dont want to start him in school only to have to take him out and start him somewhere else. we have an idea of the area we want to go to but asking everyone ..... do they have catchment areas over there? like we do ie people moving house so their children can go to particular schools? or is it more open?

Applied For Visa!!

Sent in my application for a subclass 309/100 Spouse Visa in January and after being asked for some more documentation to prove husband and I were and still are in a long and lasting relationship, have now been asked to get a medical and police check completed within the next 49 days.  Getting a bit nervy now as hope everything goes well as all the rest of the family are Aussie citizens so its just me to get cleared now!  Have been told by my case officer that spouse visa are taking… Continue

does anyone have any advice on pensions... should we leave it here and receive in Oz when we retire? should we cash it in and take the money? or transfer it from here into another pension fund in Oz. I am a nurse so have an NHS pension that i have been paying into for approx 17years... any guidance appreciated

where do we start - is there a checklist of things to do

I am british and my husband is austrailian. we have decided to move out to melbourne and its all happening quickly! Our First House!

After taking a while to get the mortgage (having no credit history here and only being in the country for five months), we got the approval yesterday so we can go ahead and buy the 4 bed, 2 bath house with a pool and spa in Currambine in Perth's northern suburbs.  We move in on 25/2!


This house is probably twice the size of our last home in the UK and we can't believe how quickly we can get the keys; about five weeks since I first saw it!

Citizenship by descent

Hi everyone,


Well I got proof of my mothers citizenship so now in the process of applying for descent. One problem though is have found out on my birth certificate my mother used my fathers name though they were not married which of course is different to her family name. I have been advised that you can do a declaration but this has to be done by another Australian citizen working in a job on their list but we dont know any as we are here in the UK. Anyone else had this kind…
