Well our electronic form and paperwork was received by SA on the 17th March.....now have up to an 8 week wait for their decision. I have collated and sorted all the paperwork ready for the main visa lodge as we only have 30 days after receiving their decision to get it in. So with all that sent and done and with Ian Harrop & Associates doing everything for us, all we can do now is sit back and wait..........!

I just wanted to write to let everyone know our journey so far. After reading on different forums about nurses trying to emigrate and either not knowing where to begin, or like myself getting confused along the way. I thought if I told you our journey it may help others along the way. Here goes....
It started in Jan 2002, when my husband and I decided to take our 2 daughters (then 4yrs & 9yrs) on holiday to Sydney, Australia to visit my… Continue

We can find plenty of information regarding taking cats and dogs to Australia, but my daughter wants to take her pet rabbit. Looking on different sites the information for 'other' pets is limited. The way one site read was that Australia only accept rabbits from New Zealand, but i'm not sure if i've read it right. I just wondered if anyone could shed any more light on this as our younger daughter feels better about going if 'Cookie' can come too!

Hi, I am re-sitting my IELTS again Saturday 21st August. I'm dreading it now as I know what to expect after failing it by 0.5 points the end of last year. I am hoping to conquer this vile test this time as I have spoken to an agency and they are willing to take on our application for a permanant visa. If there is anyone out there sitting the academic test this Saturday with me then i'll look forward to meeting you!! I get my results 3rd September so i'm keeping everything crossed this… Continue

Don't know if any of you are watching the series 'Wanted Down Under' on BBC1 weekday mornings, but i find it really frustrating when they make it look like a flip of a flag decides wether you move to Oz or not!!! I watch it everyday and also have watched all past years series too, when the one lady was a nurse it really interested me. The work out there looks fantastic, they made it sound very appealing and that jobs are very easy to come by....great!!! But what they're… Continue

Sat my IELTS test yesterday. It was vile!! The academic test is brain numbing...and having to not talk for nearly 3 HOURS!!! The actual test wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the time constraints, especially when they keep telling you how much time is left and you're not even half way through the questions!!!!!!! The speaking part was easier, 15 mins of talking about why I like shopping for clothes and friendships. But it's amazing how a topic that you could normally… Continue

Hi! After reading several pieces of information and other peoples comments, it appears that you have to switch your British Driving Licence to Australian within 3 months of obtaining your visa. Can anyone shed some light on this information please? What happens if you can't get over there in the 3 months, or your house hasn't sold, or the timings not right to leave within the 3 months stated? What happens then? Would you have to complete a full driving test again then if its over 3 months???… Continue

Hi! Does anyone know exactly what is involved in the skills assessment as I am about to start mine in September. We are starting our state skilled visa in January as I am a newly qualified nurse and by then will have a year of experience to enable us to go on a skilled visa. We have already spoken to the Ian Harrop Agency and they sound fantastic. Friends of ours used this agency and recommended them. The agency said the skill assessment was basically the Austrailian Government etc getting in… Continue
